Are Canopies Allowed on Myrtle Beach?

Myrtle Beach is a major vacation destination on the East Coast of the United States. Each year, millions of visitors flock to the area to enjoy the beautiful weather, stunning beaches, and many entertainment options. So, you must know about the rules and regulations to have a safe time, and other visitors don’t feel you annoying. 

There are a few general rules and regulations that visitors to Myrtle Beach should know. These include:

1. The Horry County leash law requires that pets be tied up at all times. With few exceptions from 10 am to 5 pm in May and September each year, owners can let their animals run free as long they’re mindful about picking up afterward.
2. The only kind of canopy or umbrella allowed in Myrtle Beach is no larger than 12 x 12 ft. All others will be confiscated and could lead to a fine, so make sure you pack an effective defense.
3. Avoid walking on the dunes and grasses on the beach. It would help if you used a boardwalk to visit the beach. Because there can be loggerheads, logo turtle’s eggs can be damaged.
4. The rules of surf and boogie boarding are strict on Myrtle Beach. Within 75 yards from the fishing pier, it’s no fun trying to ride a wave when there’s an active boat traffic zone right in front.
5. When you go swimming in Myrtle Beach, stay at least 150 yards away from the fishing pier.
6. Myrtle Beach has banned fireworks on the beach and in its parks. This protects both people and property from smoke or flames, which can cause burns if you’re not careful with your actions.
7. Glass jars are not permitted on the beach or alley. As if broken unconsciously, they can damage people and beach animals. 
8. Bicycles are not allowed on the beach but can be ridden on the boardwalk and roads near the shoreline.
9. Abuse language, fighting, teasing is strictly prohibited. If you are found fighting, you’ll have to face a fine and punishment. 
10. It is prohibited to dispose of trash or solid waste in Myrtle Beach. The court may impose fines, and jail time could also happen if someone were caught doing this upon the public property. There have been recent cases where people have been arrested due to their cigarette butts being considered “litter.”
